CHECK THE ROOM WITHIN

I trust my body’s wisdom and respond with care.

Inhale: I breathe in trust for my body’s wisdom.
Exhale: I release the urge to ignore what I feel.

Hello Darling,

This message is arriving later in the month than I planned. But maybe it is arriving right when it needs to.

Sometimes the message we need does not come at the beginning of the month, when everything feels fresh and full of promise.

Sometimes it comes near the end. After we have pushed through. After we have ignored the tension.

After we have told ourselves, “I’m fine,” more times than we can count.

And maybe that is why this month’s affirmation still matters:

I trust my body’s wisdom and respond with care.

Pause with that for a moment.

Not just, “I trust my body.”

But, “I respond with care.”

Because noticing is only the beginning, darling.

You may notice your neck getting tense during a conversation.

You may notice your breathing changes around certain people.

You may feel your stomach turn as you are about to say yes, while something inside you quietly asks you to say no. You may feel your whole body soften when you finally sit down, close the door, and give yourself a moment to breathe.

Here me when I say this: Your body is always giving you information.

The question is not only, “What am I feeling?”

The deeper question is, “What will I do with what I feel?”

For a long time, many of us were praised for pushing through our difficulties.

We learned to finish the task. Keep the peace. Answer the call. Show up. Smile. Say yes.

But we were not always taught how to notice when showing up for everyone else meant leaving our wonderful selves behind.

And this is where the practice begins.

Not with judgment or shame. But with a pause.

A simple question:

What is happening inside me right now?

Maybe your body needs rest. Maybe it needs food. Maybe it needs space.

Maybe it needs you to tell the truth. Maybe it needs you to stop forcing yourself to remain comfortable in a place that no longer feels safe.

The body does not always give us the full answer. And every feeling is not a command.

But darling, what you feel is still worthy of your attention.

Before this month ends, I want to invite you to one small practice.

Pause three times during your day. Maybe an alert in your calendar may help?

Once in the morning.

Once in the middle of your day.

And once before bed.

And ask yourself:

What do I feel in my body?

Where do I feel it?

What happened just before I noticed it?

And what would responding with care look like right now?

It may be one deep breath.

It may be loosening your shoulders.

It may be drinking water.

It may be ending a conversation.

It may be admitting that something is bothering you.

Small moments of listening can change the way you move through your whole day.

And no, it is not too late in the month to begin.

You do not need a new month, a Monday, or a perfect morning to come back to yourself.

You can begin here and now.

This month’s affirmation is still yours:

I trust my body’s wisdom and respond with care.

With care,
Vee
